I'm a Southern California native with a passion for creation, instilled at an early age with a love of reading and some skills with tools. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in English and a zeal for making live theater.

I have acted, directed, written (award-winning, published) plays, built sets, and helped run a theater company for several years. Then I upgraded to a more rewarding and challenging career as a high school English teacher, but the stress of trying to do that job well harmed my health and happiness.

The Covid-19 pandemic prompted another career pivot, and with help from CareerFoundry, I started writing code. I love the weird combination of language and building that is web development, and love making cool stuff.
